Corrie Actor Sacked Over Rap Videos

Coronation Street's 'Tommy Duckworth' has been sacked from the show after it was discovered the actor who played the character had posted a number of "strongly worded" videos online as a masked rapper known as "The Phantom".

25-year-old Chris Fountain, hidden behind a mask, posted a number of clips in which he rapped about sexual violence.

The actor said that the ITV soap-opera had "no choice" but to sack him, adding that he was "mortified" to "have brought so much embarrassment to my colleagues and employers".

An ITV spokesman said the actor's contract had been terminated "as a result of the unacceptable comments he made in a number of online clips."

It is understood that the actor posted the videos online "over a year ago" at a time when he had been "experimenting" with music.

The videos have since been removed from YouTube.
