Three people have been injured in a road crash on the M4 in Wiltshire.

According to reports, a lorry and a car transporter collided on the road between the Swindon East and Hungerford junctions just after midnight on Thursday.

It is understood that a man has been arrested in connection with the collision.

Two of the injured are being treated at Frenchay Hospital near Bristol and the third is at Swindon's Great Western Hospital.

Police say that the road eastbound was closed down along with two lanes of the westbound side.

The Highways Agency said that delays were possible but that road should be open again by mid-morning on Thursday.
