Supermarket Apologises For Staff's Criticism Of New Mother

Sainsbury's have apologised to a customer after a staff member criticised her for having her six-week-old son out of the house.

According to reports, Sabine Latto was in the supermarket at Hedge End, Hampshire, when she was approached by a female staff member who began asking about her baby son, Myles.

Mrs Latto claims that the worker eventually asked where the child's father was and told her she "shouldn't be out of the house with a baby this young".

It is understood that Mrs Latto complained instore and the employee apologised.

Saying that it would investigate the incident, a statement from Sainsbury's read: "We are deeply concerned by this incident and apologise unreservedly to Mrs Latto for the distress this has caused her.

May Faces Committee Over Border Relaxation
The Home Secretary is to face a committee of MPs on Tuesday, to discuss the revelations she advised a relaxation of border controls during the Olympics.
