£20m And HMS Illustrious Sent To Philippines
The Prime Minister has announced that aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious will be sent to the Philippines to help those affected by Typhoon Haiyan.
David Cameron made the announced during a visit to India, adding that the UK government has secured £20 million in aid.
The death toll following the typhoon currently stands at around 2,300 and some half a million people have been displaced.
HMS Illustrious is currently in the Gulf and is expected to reach the Philippines by 24 November.
It will relieve HMS Darling, which is expected to make the country by Saturday.
The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) has also said that £23 million has been raised in the UK in the first 48 hours of its appeal.

HMS Intrepid to be recycled in the UK
The former Royal Navy assault ship HMS Intrepid is expected to be recycled at a British facility, the Ministry of Defence has announced. The 12,000 tonne vessel, which is a key part of the fleet that led the campaign to retake the Falkland Islands 25 years ago, has been moored in Portsmouth harbour since she left service in 1999.

Liner Joins Navy In Stranded Britons Rescue
The first of three Royal Navy war ships has set sail to rescue Britons stranded by volcanic ash air delays. HMS Albion came alongside at Santander today in northern Spain and started loading about 250 troops and 200 civilians to take them back to the UK, the Ministry of Defence said.
