Tulisa Contostavlos Charged With Drugs Offences

Former X Factor judge, Tulisa Contostavlos, has been charged with being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has confirmed.

On Monday, the CPS has said it had authorised the Met Police to charge the former N-Dubz singer.

The charges follow a sting in which she allegedly sold cocaine to an undercover journalist.

In a statement, CPS London Chief Crown Prosecutor Baljit Ubhey, said: "This charge relates to an investigation by the Sun newspaper between early March 2013 and May 23 2013 which resulted in the supply of Class A drugs to an investigative journalist.

"This decision to prosecute was taken in accordance with the code for Crown prosecutors.

"We have determined that there is sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction and that a prosecution is in the public interest."

Mr Ubhey added: "This defendant is now the subject of criminal proceedings and has the right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that nothing should be reported which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."

In response to the news, Contostavlos's lawyer released a statement, saying the singer will plead not guilty to the "serious criminal offence".

Ms Contostavlos, 25, will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 19 December.

She was initially arrested in connection with the incident with 35-year-old musician Mike GLC on 4 June.
