Third Rearrested In 1991 Murder Case

West Midlands Police has confirmed a third person has been rearrested on suspicion of the abduction and murder of Nicola Payne.

On Friday morning, a 49-year-old man – who is currently on bail in connection with the inquiry – was rearrested in Coventry and is currently being questioned by officers.

On Thursday, the force released a statement saying a man, aged 50, had been rearrested on suspicion of Ms Payne's murder and abduction, while a 51-year-old woman was rearrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. Both were first arrested in December 2013 after new evidence came to light. They have since been bailed until the summer pending further enquiries.

Ms Payne, 18 and a mother-of-one, was last seen on 14 December 1991 in the Henley Green area.
