Police Called By People Travelling In Back Of Refrigerated Lorry

Police have uncovered 12 people in the back of a refrigerated lorry that was travelling on the M6 in Staffordshire.

It is understood that one of the people in the back of the lorry called police at about 9am on Wednesday morning asking for "urgent assistance".

Police closed the motorway and stopped the lorry between Hilton Park services and Junction 10a.

The 12 people recovered from the lorry have received medical treatment and Border Control have launched an investigation.

No arrests were made in connection with the discovery.

Police Find Woman And Children In Refrigerated Lorry
Police in Bristol have discovered a woman and two children in the back of a refrigerated lorry. Avon and Somerset Police said the driver of the lorry reported hearing voices from inside the lorry. Police believe the woman and children were in the back of the lorry for two days before being discovered.

Lorry Spills £1,500 Cash Across Road In Swindon
A road was forced to closed in Swindon on Thursday after a lorry carrying money scattered approximately £1,500 in cash across a carriageway. The incident occurred after 1:30pm in Mead Way. Police were called to the scene and closed the northbound road from Mead roundabout. The money was cleared from the road. It is understood no one was injured.

Five people remain in police custody, arrested on suspicion of entering the UK in the back of a refrigerated lorry. A sixth suspect is in hospital having suffered two broken ankles.

Rail Replacement Bus Carrying 50 People Hit By Lorry
A bus carrying fifty people was hit by a lorry on the A34 in Oxfordshire in the early hours of Monday morning. The First Great Western rail replacement bus was carrying rail passengers from Oxford to Didcot when it was hit by the lorry at about 00:30 on Monday. Three people are understood to have needed hospital treatment following the collision.
