Police Appeal For Information On Rape Of 15-Year-Old Girl

An investigation has been launched after a 15-year-old girl was raped as she walked home in Cumbernauld on Saturday.

It is understood the girl was walking home when she was approached by two men on Beechwood Road shortly before midnight.

Police say that after speaking to the men for a short time, one of them left, and the other attacked the girl, subjecting her to a serious sexual assault.

The teenager was able to make her way home after the attack at which point the police were called.

They are searching for a man described as a white male, aged in his mid to late teens with possibly blond hair. He is believed to be Scottish, but did not have a Glasgow audience.

Police have appealed for anyone with any information to contact them.

Police say that CCTV footage is being examined and door-to-door enquiries are ongoing.
