120 Britons Return From Earthquake Hit Nepal

One hundred and twenty British people have returned to the UK from earthquake hit Nepal.

More than 5,000 people died after a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit the country on Saturday. More than 10,000 are said to have been injured.

A Department for International Development (DfID) chartered Boeing 767, which had previously transported aid into Nepal on Saturday, arrived at Stansted airport at 3am on Thursday.

The youngest passenger on the flight was a three-month-old baby.

It is understood that more than 150 Britons are still sheltering in the British Embassy in the Nepalese capitol, Kathmandu.

The UK has committed to sending three RAF Chinook helicopters to help relief efforts in Nepal. The helicopters are being provided by the Department of International Development (DfID) alongside £2.5m in funding to the UN's Humanitarian Air Service.

Small Earthquake Hits North Wales
A small earthquake, measuring 2.8 in magnitude has hit north Wales. The quake was reported late on Wednesday night, just before 11.30pm, the British Geological Survey (BGS) has said. The epicentre of the quake was located on the Lleyn peninsula, Gwynedd, but was felt throughout the north Gwynedd region.

Aid Plane Leaves UK For Nepal
UK aid supplies and British army troops, including Gurkha engineers, have left Britain on an RAF plane bound for Nepal. The aid flights are being sent to help in rescue efforts following a major earthquake on Saturday. More than 1,100 shelter kits are being transported on flight RAF C-17, which left RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire on Monday night.
