Life Sentence For Man Who Murdered His Mother
Alex McDonald has been jailed for thirty years for the murder of his mother, Catherine.
The 27-year-old, of Hilly Park, Norton Fitzwarren, appeared before Exeter Crown Court on Wednesday morning after being convicted yesterday of murdering his mother Catherine.
Catherine McDonald’s body was found by police officers at her home in Norton Fitzwarren on Tuesday 30 September 2014.
She had died from asphyxiation and stab wounds. There was a sexual element to the offence.

A man has been found guilty at Exeter Crown Court of the murder of his mother at her home in the village of Norton Fitzwarren in Somerset. 27-year-old Alex McDonald, of Hilly Park in the village, was convicted on Tuesday, 23 June. He is due to be sentenced today (Wednesday).

Greater Manchester Police has confirmed a mother-of-two found murdered at her home at the weekend, had previously reported her former partner. Linzi Ashton, 25, is said to have previously reported 28-year-old Michael Cope for a "serious sexual offence", according to the BBC.

Man Arrested After Mother And Baby Murdered
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a mother and her baby son in Birmingham. The bodies of a 25-year-old woman and the nine-month-old boy were found at a house in Chells Grove at about 10.30amm on Sunday morning. A 28-year-old man was later arrested in Dudley on suspicion on both murders.

Murdered Damilola's Mother Dies
Gloria Taylor, the mother of murdered Damilola Taylor, has died following a suspected heart attack. A Metropolitan Police spokesman said that Mrs Taylor, 57, was taken to hospital after she collapsed while out walking with her husband in Shooters Hill, south east London on Wednesday night. She was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at hospital.
