Security Guard Dies After Attack At Blackfriars Crown Court

A prison custody officer who was attacked outside Blackfriars Crown Court earlier this week, has died.

Lorraine Barwell, 54, is understood to have been assaulted as she was escorting a prisoner between Blackfriars Crown Court and a prison van on Monday. She was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Ms Barwell was a prisoner custody officer for Serco.

Humphrey Burke, 22, appeared at Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court on Wednesday (1 July), charged with causing grievous bodily harm. He was remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on 15 July.

A 43-year-old man who managed brothels in Manchester has been jailed for 20 months. David Greenwood pleaded guilty to three charges connected to prostitution at Manchester Crown Court Crown Square.

Man Found Guilty Of 1993 Claire Tiltman Murder
A 46-year-old man has been found guilty of the 1993 murder of teenager Claire Tiltman. Ms Tiltman was found dead in an alleyway in Greenhithe. She had suffered multiple stab wounds.

Woman Denies Causing The Death Of Her Sister
A woman from Bridlington has pleaded not guilty to causing the death of her sister in a car collision. Rosie-Ann Stone, 20, to a charge of causing the death of Jennie Stone by careless driving at Hull Crown Court today. Stone was prosecuted after her sister's car struck a tree on the A165. She died of fatal head injuries.
