Girl, Six, Bitten By Police Dog

A six-year-old girl has been bitten by a police dog in Manchester, it has been reported.

It is understood the officers were chasing a suspect at the time of the incident. Police were pursuing a man who was running away after a stolen car crashed into a wall in the Newton Heath area of the city. The girl, who has been named as Phoebe, was bitten on the legs.

She was taken to hospital for treatment.

An internal investigation has begun into the incident.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed the incident.

They said: "A police dog was deployed to pursue the offender and during the chase a six-year-old girl was unfortunately bitten. The girl was taken to hospital and kept in overnight for observation. Her injuries are not believed to be serious."

Man Arrested After Girl Mauled By Dog
A man has been arrested after a six-year-old girl had part of her ear bitten off by a dog in London. The 56-year-sold man attended Chingford police station on Sunday morning and was arrested on suspicion of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control in a public place. He is currently in custody at an east London police station.

10-Year-Old Boy Bitten By Police Dog
Police have launched an investigation after a boy was accidentally bitten by a police dog in his back garden. Officers were called to Western Road in Oldbury after a report of four men stealing copper wiring near to the train station. They were seen running away from the area and the copper wiring was found on a pathway nearby.

MoJ Reveal Drone Used In Prison Smuggle Attempt
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has revealed that a drone was used to try and smuggle a package into the grounds of HMP Bedford. An MoJ spokesperson said that the aircraft was "quickly intercepted by vigilant staff" on 06 March.

Arrest warrant extended over girl's shooting
Police investigating the shooting of a 12-year-old girl in Greater Manchester have been granted extra time to question a 16-year-old boy. Kamilah Peniston was shot in the head at a house in Wembley Road in Gorton on Monday night.
