Blasts reported at Baghdad hotels
Eleven people have been reported dead following three explosions near hotels used by foreign journalists in Baghdad.
The blasts took place near the Palestine and Sheraton hotels in the city centre.
It is thought that rockets caused two of the explosions, while the third blast is believed to have been caused by a car bomb.
The Associated Press new agency, which had offices in the Palestine hotel, reported at least five injuries in the blasts.
The explosions were followed by heavy automatic gunfire, reportedly by Iraqi forces, although it is not clear what the tragets were.

Britons injured in Turkey bomb blasts
Ten Britons are among those injured in a number of explosions at a Turkish holiday resort. It is understood that three explosions in the town of Marmaris on Sunday night, with the main explosion taking place on a minibus carrying tourists in the centre of the town. Eleven Turkish nationals are also reported to have been injured in the blasts.

Army chief blasts Ministry of Defence pay
General Sir Mike Jackson has roundly criticised army pay and conditions during the annual BBC Dimbleby lecture. Sir Mike, who retired as the head of the army in August, said pay was "hardly impressive" and that conditions in some of the accommodation were "shaming." He said that as he was now a civilian he was entitled to have his say in public.

Cause of Buncefield explosions still unknown
The lead investigator in the inquiry into the explosions at the Buncefield oil depot has said that it is still unclear what caused the blasts. Taf Powell said that he could not say "with sufficient confidence" exactly how the blasts, which rocked the oil depot last December, occurred.

Police Find Woman And Children In Refrigerated Lorry
Police in Bristol have discovered a woman and two children in the back of a refrigerated lorry. Avon and Somerset Police said the driver of the lorry reported hearing voices from inside the lorry. Police believe the woman and children were in the back of the lorry for two days before being discovered.

Body find closes M1 near Luton
A stretch of the M1 in Bedfordshire has been closed off after a woman's body was found. Both south and northbound carriages of the motorway have been closed between junctions 10 and 11 near Luton as the scene is investigated. It is understood that a pedestrian may have been struck by traffic.
