Agency staff among those arrested over Kent robbery

Two agency staff working for Securitas were among those arrested and released on bail in connection with the £53 million Securitas depot robbery, police have revealed.

The man and woman were sub-contracted to work for the firm, Kent Police confirmed.

The pair were among ten people arrested and released on bail in connection with the robbery. Two other people were released without charge, while five other people have been charged in connection with the robbery.

John Fowler, 57, from Elderden Farm, Staplehurst; Stuart Royle, 47, of no fixed abode; Kim Shackleton, 39, from Maidstone; Jetmar Bucpapa, 24, of Hadlow Road, Tonbridge and Lea John Rushe, 33, from Southborough, near Tunbridge Wells - all appeared in court last week charged in connection with the robbery. All five were remanded and are due to reappear in court on March 13

Earlier on Tuesday, policce revealed that had found another 'significant' amount of cash, it has been revealed.

According to reports, the amount of money discovered in a garage in Southborough, near Tunbridge Wells, is thought to be around £7 million, although it could be as much as £10 million.

The find is in addition to the £11 million already recovered by police during a series of other raids.

Forensic teams have been examining the garage since Sunday evening.

An armed gang robbed the Securitas depot in Tonbridge on February 22, after kidnapping the depot manager Colin Dixon, his wife Lynn and son Craig. The £53 million robbery was the largest cash robbery ever to take place in Britain.

Kent Police confirmed yesterday that they have searched 20 places, seized more than 3,500 exhibits, recovered a number of vehicles, taken more than 300 witness statements, followed up 1,200 pieces of information and dealt with more than 2,100 calls from the public, since the raid took place.
