Reward offered to catch supermarket rapist

Sainsbury's have offered a reward of £5,000 in order to help catch a rapist who attacked an eleven-year-old girl in the public toilet of one of their stores.

The girl was attacked in the toilets of the Sainsbury's store in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, last Thursday.

Warwickshire Police have issued posters containing an artist's impression of the attacker and are being distributed in shops in the area.

The girl was attacked around 7pm in the store at the Shires Retail Park last Thursday.

The attacker was described as a white male in his late teens with dark brown hair and red inflamed spots on his face.

He was also wearing a distinctive black-anorak style hooded top, with a red front and silver reflective piping. Strands of hair were believed to be protruding from the top of the hood and the attacker was wearing a grey T-shirt beneath the top.

The girl's mother, who cannot be named in order to protect her daughter's anonymity, appealed for help to catch the attacker on Monday.

On Tuesday, police said that there had been a good response to their appeal for information.

Police have appealed for anyone who saw a man acting suspiciously in the toilet area or nearby on Thursday afternoon or evening to contact them on: 01926 415994 or Crimestoppers anonymously on: 0800 555 111.
