Three more remanded over 'bomb plot' charges

Three more men have appeared in court charged in connection with an alleged plot to blow up transatlantic flights.

Mohammed Sahmin Uddin, 35, Mohammed Yasar Gulzar, 25, and Nabeel Hussain, 22, were charged with conspiracy to murder and preparing acts of terrorism.

They were remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on September 4.

Eight other suspects were charged with the same offences last week and will also appear in court on the same day.

Four other people have been charged with lesser offences.

Last Friday, Mr Hussain's brother Umair, 24, appeared in court charged with failing to disclose information.

He was remanded until September 15.

Another brother, Mehran Hussain, 23, did not appear in court on Tuesday, but was remanded in custody in his absence until September 19, charged with the same offence.

Cossar Ali, the wife of Ahmed Abdullah Ali, one of the eight men charged last week, was also charged with failing to disclose information.

She was remanded in custody until September 5.

A 17-year-old youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also appeared in court on Tuesday, charged with possessing articles which could be useful to people preparing acts of terrorism.

Police are continuing to question five people in connection with the alleged plot.

The deadline for questioning the suspects is today, after which time they will either have to be charged or released or police will have to apply for more time to continue questioning them.
