Six remanded following terror raids

A youth and five men have been remanded in custody on charges in connection with an alleged terrorist recruitment network.

In all 10 people have now been charged following police raids in London at the beginning of September.

The six defendants were due to appear before City of Westminster Magistrats Court today.

Muhammad al-Figari, 42, from Tottenham faces charges in connection with terrorism training and the possession of materials likely to be of use for terrorism; Atilla Ahmet, 42, from Lewisham who is charged with incitement to murder and commit acts of terroroism; Moussa Brown, 40, from Walthamstow was charged withproviding and receiving training in the use of firearms; Saloum Joh, 21, from Putney faces a charge of possessing a shotgun; Kadar Ahmed, 19, of Plaistow faces charges in connection with terrorism training.

A 17-year-old from Camberwell, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faces charges in connection with terrorism training.

Police raids on September 1 led to the arrest of 14 people. Two were subsequently released and two are still being held in custody. Four men who appeared in court on Tuesday were remanded in custody.

Dale Cregan has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with murdering two police officers and two men in Greater Manchester. The 29-year-old is accused of murdering PC Fiona Bone, 32, and PC Nicola Hughes, 23, in Mottram, Tameside on Tuesday.

Sally Anne murder trial set
A date has been set for the trial of the man accused of murdering teenage model Sally Anne Bowman. Mark Dixie, 36, of no fixed address, appeared at the Old Bailey via video-link on Thursday. He was remanded in custody until December 15 for his next court appearance and the trial date was set for March 12.

British Soldier Charged With Child Rape In Austria
A British soldier faces charges of raping and abusing a child in Austria. Reports reveal that a soldier, allegedly with the 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, was arrested on 29 November in Tyrol, Austria. It is alleged the unnamed soldier was found in the bedroom of a six-year-old girl after entering the house while drunk.

Two New Charges Added To 12 Others For Dave Lee Travis
Dave Lee Travis has been charged with two further sexual offences, adding to 12 other counts he already faces. The 68-year-old former Radio 1 DJ, of Mentmore, Bucks, has said that he contest all charged brought against him.

Former NotW Journalist Charged Over Phone Hacking
A former News of the World journalist is to be charged over four alleged offences as part of the ongoing investigation into the phone hacking scandal. Dan Evans faces two counts of conspiring to intercept the voicemail of "well-known people and their associates", the Crown Prosecution Service has said. The charges date between 2003 and 2010.
