European ministers to meet for terror talks

Six European politicians are to meet today to discuss counter-terrorism measures.

Home Secretary John Reid is to host the meeting with ministers from France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Spain.

The meeting is expected to take over two days in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire.

Other issues discussed in their regular G6 meeting include how the internet can be used in the fight against terrorism, how to encourage dialogue with Muslim communities and illegal immigration.

The Home Office said the meeting would "explore how they can work together" according to the BBC.

A Home Office spokesperson told the Guardian newspaper: "The discussions will mostly centre around terrorism but other home affairs issues will be looked at.

"It will focus particularly on how the next terrorism attack can be pre-empted and challenging radical extremist ideas.

"Germany has been looking at making the internet a more hostile environment for terrorism and its supporters. The group allows us to exchange ideas like that."

The G6, previously known as the G5 before Poland joined, was set up in 2003 and meets approximately twice a year.
