Supermodel pleads guilty to assault charge

Supermodel Naomi Campbell has pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless assault in court in New York.

At Manhattan Criminal Court, the London-born model admitted throwing a mobile phone at her housekeeper, Ana Scolavino, during a row. However, she claimed that it was an accident and she did not intend to hurt Ms Scolavino.

Ms Campbell told the court that she was "deeply sorry" that Ms Scolavino had been hurt in the incident.

Ms Campbell, 36, was sentenced to five days of community service and ordered to attend a two-day anger management course.

She will also have to pay medical bills of $363 (£185) to her housekeeper.
