Three killed in severe weather conditions

Three people, including a teenage girl, have been killed as Britain was struck by severe weather conditions.

The teenager died after being swept in a swollen river in Dartmoor on Sunday. The girl was part of a group of ten teenagers on a school hiking trip.

The group raised the alarm shortly after 2pm on Sunday. The girl, who has not been named, was found around 20 minutes later by a rescue helicopter. She was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, but died later.

Two people - a man and a woman - also died after being swept into the sea at Mullion Cove in Cornwall on Sunday afternoon.

The bodies were recovered by a Royal Navy helicopter and they were pronounced dead at Treliske Hospital.

The couple have not yet been named and police are currently in the process of contacting next of kin.

Baby Girl Dies In Dog Attack
An 11-month-old baby has died after being mauled by a pet dog, police in Lancashire have said. The baby girl, from Emily Street in Blackburn, died in hospital at about 23:00 on Monday. Police have arrested a 26-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman on suspicion of child neglect in connection with the incident.

Teenager rescued from sea dies
A 15-year-old boy rescued from the sea off Norfolk has died. A lifeboat crew rescued the boy who had got into difficulties while swimming with another boy off Wells-Next-the-Sea, Norfolk. He was located by the lifeboat and was airlifted to hospital. But he later died shortly after being admitted to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Police Appeal For Witnesses To Fatal Car Park Accident
A two-year-old girl has died after being hit by a car in a north-west London supermarket car park. Police have appealed for witnesses. Metropolitan Police has said that the child was hit by a vehicle in the car park of Asda in Forty Lane, Wembley. She was treated by paramedics but later died in hospital.

Teenage Girl Charged With Murder Of 35-Year-Old Man
A 15-year-old girl has been charged with the murder of 35-year-old man Mark Roberts. Mr Roberts (35) was found suffering head injuries on Balidon Road, Weston-super-Mare in October. He later died in hospital. The teenage girl was remanded in custody to appear before North Somerset Magistrates' Court.

Man Bailed Over Teenage Girl's Rape
A 29-year-old man arrested in connection with the rape of a teenage girl who later died in a fall from a motorway bridge days after the assault was reported, has been released on police bail. Hampshire Police confirmed that the man was arrested at a property in the Calmore area of Southampton on Thursday morning.
