Teenager jailed for rape lie
A 17-year-old girl who falsely accused a taxi driver of rape has been sentenced to a four-month detention and training order.
The teenager, from Shipley in Yorkshire, was told that she would serve two months of her sentence in custody, at sentencing at Bradford Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted perverting the course of justice at a hearing last month.
She told police that Bradford taxi driver Aftab Ahmed had attacked her last January.
At sentencing, District Judge David Thomas said that the girl's actions had "disastrous consequences" for Mr Ahmed.
In an interview with Sky News, Mr Ahmed, 44, said that his life had been destroyed by the accusations.

Murdered Asian Teen 'Unlawfully Killed'
Although convinced "she was murdered", a coroner has now returned a verdict of unlawful killing at the inquest into the death of asian teenager Shafilea Ahmed. The East and South Cumbria Coroner Ian Smith told the inquest: "She was murdered.
