Joey Barton arrested over assault
Premiership footballer Joey Barton has been arrested in connection with the alleged assault of a team-mate.
The 24-year-old Manchester City midfielder is accused of attacking team-mate Ousmane Dabo at the club's training ground in Carrington, south Manchester on May 1.
Dabo, 30, was treated in hospital for injuries to his eye, nose and lip, following the alleged incident. He claimed that the attack left him looking like the Elephant Man.
Barton, who has been suspended by Manchester City, has been bailed until July 11 pending further inquiries.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a Section 20 assault following an incident when a 30-year-old man was assaulted at Carrington."

Rooney assault claims dropped
The man who accused footballer Wayne Rooney of assault has dropped his claim, it has been reported. Patrick Hanrahan, a 22-year-old student from Eaglescliffe, Middlesborough, accused the England and Manchester United striker of attacking him in the Tiger Tiger nightclub in Manchester.
