Aircraft Makes Emergency Landing At Edinburgh Airport

An aircraft has reportedly been forced to make an emergency landing at Edinburgh airport.

Thirty-six people were onboard the Flybe Bombardier Q400 plane, which was travelling from Manchester, when the crew were reportedly forced to shut down one of the aircraft's turboprop engines.

A mayday call was put out at 7:40am and Edinburgh airport was put on full emergency alert.

The aircraft is understood to have landed safely and all passengers and crew were evacuated just after 8am.

Men Walk Away From Light Aircraft Crash
Two men have escaped serious injury after their light aircraft crashed after taking off near Newport. The pilot and passenger escaped the two-seater Kiscruiser, which then caught fire. Gwent Police say the single engine Kiscruiser had taken off from Upfield Farm, Whitson intending to go to Filton.

Emergency Landing For Aircraft At Manchester Airport
A light aircraft made an emergency landing at Manchester Airport yesterday after getting into difficulties. The pilot of the Piper 34, which was flying to the airport from Blackpool, reported technical problems on final approach. An emergency landing was carried out on Runway Two shortly after 4pm, it remained closed for at least an hour.

Birmingham airport closed by emergency landing
Two crew onboard a stricken A TNT Boeing 737-300 have escaped injury after a problem with the aircraft's undercarriage forced the lane to make an emergency landing. However, the aircraft crash-landed, tipping over onto one wing, blocking the runway at Birmingham International Airport.

Plane Forced To Make Emergency Landing At Cork Airport
A plane, with 149 passengers on board, made an emergency landing at Cork Airport at 11.45pm on Tuesday night. The Boeing 737-300 series flight was travelling from Belfast to Spain, however the pilot reported a suspected fuel leak and the flight was diverted to Cork. The aircraft landed safely and none of the passengers or staff were injured.

Investigation Launched After Laser Dazzles Pilots
Lothian and Borders Police have launched an investigation after two pilots were dazzled by a green laser while landing in Edinburgh. At around 9.30 pm on Tuesday the captain of a cargo plane which took-off from Aberdeen was landing manually in Edinburgh when a green laser was aimed at the plane causing the pilot to drop the aircraft by 400ft.
