Men Charged Over Hertfordshire Triple Murder

Three men have been charged over a shooting in Hertfordshire, which left three men dead.

Keith Cowell, 52, his 17-year-old son Matthew and 33-year-old Tony Dulieu from Billericay in Essex, were shot dead at the Cowell's home in Bishop's Stortford on August 28.

Kevin Thakrar, 20 and Atul Thakrar, 46, both from Lomond Way in Stevenage, and a third man who has not been named by police, have all been charged in connection with the incident.

Kevan Thakrar has been charged with three counts of murder and two of attempted murder, as well as a firearms offence, while Atul Thakrar is charged with assisting an offender.

Both men appeared before Stevenage Magistrates' Court on Thursday and were remanded in custody until September 21, when they are due to appear before St Albans Crown Court.

The third man has been charged with drugs offences.

Two women - understood to be Matthew's 23-year-old girlfriend and Mr Cowell's 54-year-old sister - were also seriously injured in the attack and are believed to be under police guard in hospital, where their conditions are described as "serious, but stable".

A three-year-old girl, believed to be the younger woman's daughter, was unharmed in the attack and is being cared for by family members.
