Sussex Sex Attacker Convicted

A serial attacker has been found guilty of carrying out a number of sexual assaults on girls and young women in Sussex.

Mark Campbell, 38, from Donnington in Chichester, West Sussex, had denied all charges, which related to offences carried out in the Bognor Regis and Chichester areas of West Sussex between 1998 and 2004.

However, he was found guilty of four charges of indecent assault, three charges of rape, two charges of false imprisonment, one charge of attempted indecent assault, one charge of sexual assault and two charges of burglary at Chichester Crown Court on Monday.

He was cleared of one count of indecent assault and one count of sexual assault.

Max Clifford Found Guilty Of Indecent Assaults
Max Clifford has been found guilty of eight indecent assaults on women and girls as young as 15. The publicist was found guilty by a jury at Southwark Crown Court on Monday. He was however cleared on two charges of indecent assault, while the jury was unable to reach a verdict on another charge. Clifford, 71, faced 11 charges in total.

Retired Priest Found Guilty Of Sex Abuse
A retired Anglican priest has been found guilty of sexual abuse. Canon Gordon Rideout, who is 74, was found guilty at Lewes Crown Court of abusing children in the 1960s and 70s, the BBC has said. He has been convicted of 36 separate sex offences against 16 different children.

Former TV Weatherman Sentenced Over Indecent Assaults
Fred Talbot, the 65-year-old former TV weatherman, has been sentenced to five years for indecently assaulting two teenage boys in the mid 1970s. The crimes date back to 1975 and 1976, when Talbot was a teacher at Altrincham Grammar School, Greater Manchester.

Two Arrested Over Hastings Pier Blaze
As firefighters continue to battle the blaze on Hastings pier in East Sussex, two men have been arrested on suspicion of arson. East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, who spent most of the night trying to control the fire, said around 95% of the Victorian pier has been destroyed. There are no reports of any injuries.

Actor Michael Le Vell Appears In Court On 19 Child Sex Crime Charges
Actor Michael Le Vell, Coronation Street’s Kevin Webster, has appeared in court to face a number of child sex crime charges. 48-year-old Le Vell is charged with 19 serious sexual offences, including six rapes and six indecent assaults.
