Despite Mental Anguish, Britney Races Up UK Charts
While sales of her new track 'Piece Of Me' have rocketed - climbing from 46 to 19 this week - chaotic pop star Britney Spears is today continuing her recovery after being treated in hospital following a media spotlighted custody stand-off at her LA mansion.
The drama began when ex-husband Kevin Federline's bodyguards arrived at her home on Thursday evening to pick up her two sons following an arranged visit.
But desperate Spears reportedly barricaded herself in a room with the youngest child, Jayden James, for several hours and police and emergency services had to be called.
Media TV 'shrink' Dr Phil McGraw was allowed to visit Spears at the Cedars Sinai Medical Centre and some reports claim the star was upset as it was without her prior knowledge or consent.
Spears' parents are said to be fans of the celebrity doctor - who rose to fame on the Oprah Winfrey show - and had wanted him to visit their troubled daughter.
Dr Phil later said Spears is in "dire need of medical and psychological intervention".
Today though, reports allege the star is holed up with British paparazzo Adnan Ghalib at a rented property as the media continue to besiege her Mediterranean villa off Mulholland Drive following last week's incident.
After she was admitted to hospital, ex-husband Federline's lawyers went to court to obtain an order preventing Spears from seeing Sean Preston, two, and his 15-month-old brother, over fears about their safety.
The 26-year-old has since had her visitation rights suspended until January 14. Police later said there was no gun in the house after reports that Federline feared she would kill the boys.

UK Papal Visit Confirmed
The Pope will make a four day visit to the United Kingdom in September, it was confirmed today. A formal invitation was sent to the Vatican from the Queen. Benedict XVI will tour England and Scotland between 16 and 19 September.

Michael Jackson was preparing to board a plane to London, for a scheduled court appearance, when he was told a legal settlement with a Bahraini prince had been reached 'in principle' it has been revealed. Jackson was being sued by the prince for allegedly reneging on a contract to record new material, in a deal reportedly worth $7m.

Harrison Ford Injured On New Star Wars Movie Set
Actor Harrison Ford has been injured while filming the new Star Wars movie at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire. Mr Ford was airlifted to hospital after a hydraulic door fell and hit him during filming. The 71-year-old is believed to have suffered an ankle injury.
