British Divers Missing In Indonesia

Three British people have been reported missing in Indonesia.

The man and two women were among a group that hasn't returned from a diving trip off Bali on Thursday.

A further two holidaymakers, reported to be a woman from Sweden and a French man are also missing after the incident.

It is understood their part of the group disappeared after being swept away in a current in the sometimes dangerous waters of Komodo National Park, in the Nusa Tenggara islands.

An Indonesian police spokesman says a rescue team from the Indonesian Police and Navy have conducted a search for the missing foreigners but there has been no result so far.

It is believed that six other people who also participated in the dive returned safely.

A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "We are providing consular assistance, including liaising with the local authorities involved in the search."

Komodo National Park is located in the centre of the Indonesian archipelago, between the islands of Sumbawa and Flores.

The site is a popular diving spot with coral reefs and an abundance of small fish - but is also home to many sharks.
