Missing Boy 'Safely Back Home'

A young teenage boy who had been missing for over a month has been found, according to reports.

Daniel Whitehead, 13, was last seen at his home in Walsingham Avenue, Middleton, on May 21.

Daniel was known to have friends and family in Burnley and police had appealed for him to return home.

The Burnley Express newspaper has reported that he was found at 5pm yesterday and is now "safely back home".

Police say there had been a number of reported sightings of Daniel since he went missing.

The last confirmed sighting of him was on 4 June, when he was seen on Shaw Road, Oldham.

Pc Cathy Watts of Oldham Police said that it was believed that Daniel was staying with friends. Pc Watts at the time of his disappearance had appealed for Daniel to contact them to let them know he was safe.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have not yet released a statement.

Danny La Rue Dies, Aged 81
Entertainer Danny La Rue has died at his home in Kent, following a short illness, his spokesperson has confirmed. The 81-year-old - best known for his legendary female impersonation act - died after suffering from cancer. His spokeswoman said: "Danny died peacefully in his sleep just before midnight last night after a short illness.

Report Finds 'Missed Chances' To Save Daniel Pelka
A report on the death of four-year-old Daniel Pelka has found that "no professional tried sufficiently hard enough" as the child suffered "terrifying and dreadful" abuse by his mother and step-father. Daniel died in March 2012 after suffering months of being beaten and starved.

Uncle Convicted Of Murdering His Three-Year-Old Nephew
An uncle who assaulted and killed his three-year-old nephew in his care has been found guilty of murder following a trial at the Old Bailey. Ben Igbinedion, 43, of Darent House, Brangbourne Road, Bromley, assaulted his nephew Daniel Evbuowman in the early hours of 2 March after Daniel had wet the bed they were sharing.
