Batman Star Arrested Over Alleged Assault
Batman actor Christian Bale has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault.
The star, who is now in custody, allegedly assaulted his mother and sister at his suite at London's Dorchester Hotel, in Park Lane, on Sunday.
A police spokesman said that "a 34-year-old man had attended a police station in central London by appointment and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault".
The Welsh born actor is starring in the lead role of Batman in The Dark Knight.
The actor attended the European premiere of the eagerly awaited blockbuster last night at London's Leicester Square.
He was joined on the red carpet by Maggie Gyllenhaal who plays his love interest and Sir Michael Caine, who plays his faithful Butler.
Heath Ledger, who has been tipped to receive a posthumous Oscar for his portrayal of the Joker, died in January after an accidental drugs overdose.
Bale had been due to meet radio journalists at the Dorchester to promote the movie on Tuesday afternoon.
It is reported that the assault allegation was originally filed at a police station in Hampshire.
Bale has also starred in American Psycho, The Machinist and Batman Begins.
Bale first caught the public eye when he was cast in the starring role of Steven Spielberg's Empire of the Sun at the age of 13.
Bale has been called one of the "Most Creative People in Entertainment" after his performance in American Psycho.

GP Charged With Sexual Assault

A Premiership footballer has been sentenced to a jail term for assault and affray. Joey Barton, 25, of Widnes, has been jailed for six months for his part in an altercation outside a McDonald's restaurant in Liverpool last December.

Car Parking Row Man Dies
A salesman has died after an alleged assault following an argument over a parking space. The 53 year-old man collapsed, shortly after 2pm on Tuesday, after being involved in the fight behind some shops in Griffnock, East Renfrewshire. He later died at the Victoria Infirmary in Glasgow.

Richards Arrested Over Alleged Assault
Manchester City defender Micah Richards has been questioned by police in relation to an alleged assault outside a nightclub. Manchester police quizzed the 20-year-old England international, who became the youngest defender to be capped by his country in 2006. He has been released on bail.

A former Welsh Office Minister has been arrested following an alleged assault on a Conservative party canvasser. Rod Richards, 61, a former Clwyd West MP has been accused of attacking the party worker who was canvassing door-to-door on Wednesday evening. He was held over night at Cardiff’s Fairwater Police Station for questioning.
