'Kissing' Thief Robs Elderly Woman
A 97-year-old woman has been robbed by a man who tricked his way into her home.
Greater Manchester Police say the incident happened at 7.15 on August 7.
Police say the man knocked on the elderly woman's door on Greenmount Drive in Little Hulton and when she answered, he kissed her on the cheek and walked straight through the door.
The man then stole her handbag containing a quantity of cash and then fled.
Because of the distress caused by the incident, the only description the victim could provide was that the offender was white, between 30 and 40 years old and quite tall.
The woman had to be treated for shock at the Royal Bolton Hospital.
Detective Sergeant Julie Connor, of Salford CID, said: "What this man did was nothing short of disgusting.
"He has preyed upon a vulnerable, elderly woman and tricked his way into her house, stooping so low as to steal her handbag and leaving this woman absolutely traumatised.
"No-one should be made to feel like that in their own home."
Det Sergt Connor has asked residents to be "extra vigilant" when answering the door to strangers.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

OAP Charged After Knife Attack
An 85-year-old man has been charged after an elderly woman was stabbed in Edinburgh yesterday. Bendicta McLean, 74, was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with a chest wound, after the incident happened in Clermiston Road, Corstorphine, at around 1pm. Lothian and Borders Police have said she is in a stable condition in hospital.

Police are hunting a man who 'cross-dressed' as an elderly woman to steal £11,000. It is understood that a man disguised himself using a wig, make-up and a camel coat to pose as a 76-year-old and withdraw money from her account.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an elderly woman was attacked in London. Ann Driscoll, 82, was stabbed nine times in the neck and stomach on the street as she walked home from a shopping trip in Harlesden, north west London.

A police dog that attacked a 73-year-old woman who later died is to be put down, Cleveland Police have said. Irene Collins died in hospital four days after being attacked by the police dog in her garden as officers searched for a burglar on 16th July.
