Girl Held Hostage In North Yorkshire
A man is holding a young girl hostage at a property in North Yorkshire.
Armed police have surrounded the house where the man is holding a six-year-old girl hostage.
Police say the man, who is in his 30s, has barricaded himself in the property on Herdborough Road, Scarborough and is thought to be armed with knives.
Police were called to the scene just after 11pm last night after reports of a domestic incident.
Police negotiators are at the scene and the area remains cordoned off.
A police spokeswoman said when officers initially responded on Monday, a woman emerged from the house with wrist injuries.
The firearms support unit has been called to assist with the control of the incident due to the "potential threat to life".
"The police intention remains to resolve the incident without harm to anybody involved," she said.

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.

Madeleine's Mother Questioned By Police
Kate McCann, the mother of missing British girl Madeleine McCann, is being re-interviewed by Portuguese police. Her husband, Gerry McCann, will be re-interviewed tomorrow. Mrs McCann arrived at Portimao police station in the Algarve at 2pm local time on Thursday. She was accompanied by her lawyer Carlos Pinto de Abreu.
