Lorry Driver Remanded Over Girl's Abduction

A man arrested over the disappearance of a 15-year-old girl he met online, has today been remanded in custody charged with child abduction.

Lorry driver Robert Williams, 49, of Whitburn, West Lothian, Scotland, appeared at Grimsby Magistrates' Court, where he declined to enter a plea during a brief appearance.

The teenage girl went missing from her home in Cleethorpes, north east Lincolnshire, on January 14. She later turned up safe and well in France.

Humberside Police confirmed their officers accompanied Mr Williams back to the UK from Lille, France, on Wednesday.

Last month the 49-year-old's lawyer said his client had not resisted the extradition request.

Mr Williams is to appear at the same court on 18 February.
