Teen's Body Recovered From Derbyshire Quarry

The body of a teenage boy has been recovered from a quarry in Derbyshire.

Emergency services were called to Far Hill Quarry, near Ashover, on Sunday afternoon following reports the 15-year-old was seen in the water crying out for help.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue crews handed the search to the police underwater team on advice from a medical expert.

"Search teams made up of police and fire crews were at the scene for a number of hours," a Derbyshire Police spokesman said.

"A specialist police diving unit from Nottinghamshire, which had been called in to assist, recovered the boy's body from the water at 8.50pm."

The teenager’s family have been informed and a post mortem examination is to take place in due course.
