About City Training Services
City Training Services is an organisation which provides training for employers and individual candidates working within the transport and construction industry.

Based in Armagh, Northern Ireland and founded by Paul Murtagh, who has worked within the training industry for the past twenty years, City Training Services have a wealth of knowledge and experience in this field.

For LGV rigid & artic training, come to City Training Services. We provide forklift training, CPC training, plant training for companies, We have been in business for twelve years and have a vast amount of experience within the industry.


To train for a rigid lorry licence there are requirements you need to meet before you can apply for the training and test.

You must have your full car licence (category B) accompanied by a provisional rigid lorry licence (category C)

You must have passed your theory test & hazard perception test for "category C" and have your certificate, there is also a CPC case study to complete (New driver CPC rules have been applied from Sept '09), we complete tuition and test for this qualification and also run courses for existing drivers who need 35 hours of training to comply with this new legislation please contact us if you require further information.

Before you can begin training and apply for practical driving test for an artic lorry licence you need to have completed and passed your test for category C (rigid lorry) and have C + E provisional entitlement on your counterpart driver licence.

Driver CPC is short for "Driver Certificate of Professional Competence". It is a new qualification that all professional Lorry, coach & bus drivers will need to have if they wish to drive for a living. Driver CPC is being introduced all across the European Union to maintain high driving standards.

Every professional driver will need to complete 35 hours of 'periodic training' every 5 years to retain their Driver CPC.


Owner-drivers or companies who need to apply for an operators licence for national road haulage from the DOE require this qualification. The course covers all aspects of running your own haulage company and will fully prepare you for all examinations.

OCR holds the examinations for CPC National Road Haulage four times a year in March, June, September and December.

The course is held over four weekends prior to the date of the exam and there is also a revision day.

ADR Training


This qualification is mandatory for drivers who carry either packaged dangerous goods (vehicle over 3.5 tonnes) or dangerous goods in road tankers (over 1000 litres capacity).

The qualification is an ADR Certificate issued by the SQA.

The test is a“multiple choice” examination run through Scottish Qualifications Authority. The candidate must pass at least three modules for a certificate to be issued – Core, either packs or tanks and one chemical class.

The courses are of varying length – a standard “full course” covers core, tanks and packs modules and all seven chemical classes, the course duration is five days and costs £500.00+ vat The tanks course covers core,tanks and class 3 – flammable liquids, the course duration is three days and costs £300.00 + vat

Forklift Driving
Courses are available to anyone over sixteen years of age wishing to obtain their operators licence. Forklift drivers are needed on not only the construction sites, but in many other businesses that deal with trade. The employment opportunities spread alot further than you could imagine, this is a very useful qualification to have for anyone either starting employment or improving their employment prospects.
