Man accused of Julie Tennent's murder found guilty

The man accused of the murder of a 21-year-old girl, whose lips he superglued together so her cries for help could not be heard, has been found guilty.

Adrian William Hayes, 28, who is from Broughshane, was handed down his verdict at Antrim Crown Court sitting in Coleraine on Thursday February 7.

It took the jury of three women and nine men less than three hours to reach their verdict.

Julie Tennent's body was found in a shallow grave in Broughshane two weeks after she disappeared in August 2000.

During the trial Hayes admitting beating Ms Tennant and supergluing her lips together but denied her murder at his home two years ago.

Sentencing will be handed down at a later date.
