The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a fatal house fire on the Manse Road in Carryduff on Tuesday 12 April.

"Tragically one person has been found deceased at the property.

"An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire and our officers have been in the area conducting enquiries. We would appeal to anyone with information they believe may assist our investigation to call us.

PSNI Urged To 'Closely Monitor' Saoradh-Linked Easter Parade

The DUP has called on the PSNI to "closely monitor" an Easter Parade due to take place in L'Derry linked to the dissident republican organisation Saoradh.

Gary Middleton said: "Whilst the Parades Commission appear desperate to highlight that they have no legal power to ban a parade, the conditions imposed upon this event are pitifully weak.

"The Commission has however accepted that the parade is 'an insult' to the family of Lyra McKee. As such the PSNI have a duty to ensure that the parade is properly and closely monitored with officers on the ground who will intervene should there be a breach of any conditions imposed upon the parade.

"I have spoken to the police today about the parade and I know they recognise the sensitivities of it taking place on the third anniversary of the murder of Lyra McKee. They must ensure that it is not used as a vehicle to glorify terrorism and demonstrate that they will act and be seen to act where necessary."

SDLP Calls For 'Emergency Stormont Action' On Cost-Of-Living Crises

The SDLP has called for emergency Stormont action after the ONS consumer price inflation hit 7% - the highest its been in 30 years.

The sharp rise in inflation is not only the highest rate since 1992, it is higher than forecasters - including the Bank of England - expected.

The party's public finance spokesperson Matthew O'Toole said: "These figures are extraordinary, and not in a good way. They highlight how sharp and brutal the rise in prices has become and how much pressure ordinary people are under.

"Because behind this data is real hardship and anxiety. I am seeing it on the doorsteps as people tell of paypackets being eaten up by new costs and their dilemma over heating their homes versus putting food on the table. From working parents to elderly people, this cost of living emergency is hurting people across this society now.

"That is why the SDLP wants to get back into Stormont and get going on an emergency plan of action - starting with £200 into people's pockets immediately to help them pay bills."
