Three More Arrests Made In Ards Unlawful Assembly Investigation

Three more people have been arrested by detectives investigating an unlawful assembly in the Weaver's Grange area of Newtownards on Thursday 6th April.

At around 8pm on 6th April, it was reported that a large group of men had gathered at a house in the area. It was reported that threats were made to a male occupant who was inside the house during the incident.

The men, aged 51, 46 and 24, were arrested on Wednesday 07 June, on suspicion of affray and unlawful assembly. The men remain in police custody.

It follows eight other arrests made this week in connection with the investigation.

Detective Sergeant Shivers said: "Enquiries are continuing and this incident is being linked to the ongoing feud between rival drugs gangs across Ards and North Down.

"Police would appeal to anyone with any information in relation to this incident, to contact them on 101 quoting reference number 1361 07/04/23. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

Four Men Arrested In Connection With Lyra McKee Murder
Four men have been arrested in connection with the murder of journalist Lyra McKee. Ms McKee was fatally shot as she observed rioting in L'Derry in April 2019. She was 29 years old. Police investigating her death have arrested four men, aged 19, 20, 21 and 33, under the Terrorism Act.
