Four Police Officers Injured In Ramming Incidents

Police are investigating two separate incidents where police vehicles were rammed over the weekend, leaving four officers injured.

The first incident occurred in Mid Ulster on Saturday, 20 September, when a white BMW failed to stop for police in Dungannon. After a short pursuit, the car was later spotted in Moy where it rammed a police vehicle, injuring the two officers inside. Following enquiries, an 18-year-old man was arrested in Maghera and has since been released on bail.

A second incident happened in Newry, Mourne and Down on the same day. A silver Audi made off from police on Brogies Road and was pursued by officers along the A1, reaching speeds in excess of 110mph and performing dangerous manoeuvres.

The driver attempted to force the police vehicle off the carriageway by side-swiping it. The pursuit was later terminated for public safety after the car travelled in the wrong direction on the A1 before turning off. The car, believed to have been stolen from Drogheda, was later found in Bessbrook and seized for examination.

The four officers involved in both incidents sustained injuries but remained on duty and are receiving support from the PSNI.
