Belfast Grand Central Station Scoops RICS UK Awards

Farrans is celebrating a national double at the RICS UK Awards 2026, with Belfast Grand Central Station named winner of the Infrastructure Project category and the overall Project of the Year.

The twin honours recognise the scale, complexity and impact of one of Northern Ireland's most significant infrastructure projects, delivered by the Farrans Sacyr Joint Venture (FSJV) in partnership with Translink.

The RICS awards honour excellence across the built environment, highlighting projects that demonstrate outstanding delivery, innovation and lasting value. For Belfast Grand Central Station, the accolades reflect the collective expertise, commitment and collaboration of the teams and partners who brought the landmark to fruition.

The new transport hub represents a major investment in Northern Ireland's transport infrastructure, providing modern, integrated facilities designed to enhance connectivity and support Belfast's ongoing regeneration. The first phase opened in September 2024, delivered on budget and ahead of schedule.

The scheme includes 26 bus stands, eight new rail lines connected to the existing network, a new bus route with a bridge connection, and enhancements to the surrounding public realm.

As the centrepiece of the wider Weavers Cross development, the station is reshaping how people travel to, from and around Belfast, creating a gateway to the city and supporting future growth.

For Farrans, the awards are a testament to the dedication and expertise of everyone involved throughout the project, working closely with partners and stakeholders to deliver infrastructure that will benefit generations to come.

Farrans congratulated colleagues across Farrans, Sacyr, Translink and the wider project team on the achievement. Read more: www.rics.org/training-events/rics-awards/uk-awards
