Finucane: Brown Family Deserve Truth And Justice

Sinn Féin MP John Finucane said the treatment of Bridie Brown and her family has been "nothing short of disgraceful" as they prepare to take their pursuit of truth and accountability to the British Supreme Court in London.

The North Belfast MP said: "Tomorrow, the Brown family will face the British Supreme Court in London, still fighting for justice for their husband and father Sean, almost 30 years after his murder.

"The insulting treatment of Bridie and the Brown family has been nothing short of disgraceful.

"Sean was a respected GAA official, a husband and father, brutally murdered by loyalists as he locked the gates of his club in Bellaghy in 1997.

"Almost three decades later, his family are still being denied the truth and are being dragged through court case after court case by a British government clearly determined to conceal what happened.

"Rather than supporting the Brown family in their pursuit of truth and justice, the British government has fought them every step of the way.

"Bridie and her family deserve truth, accountability and justice for Sean.

"Sinn Féin will continue to stand with Bridie and the Brown family and every other family seeking truth and justice for their loved ones."
