NIFRS Logs 89 Halloween Incidents; Fireworks Aimed At Crews In Six Cases

Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) has issued an update on its Halloween operations across Northern Ireland, outlining multiple call-outs and condemning antisocial behaviour after fireworks were directed at Fire Crews.

A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) spokesperson said: "Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service has been responding to calls during the night of Halloween celebrations. Between 6pm on 31 October 2026 and 1am on 1 November 2026 Fire Crews responded to a total of 89 operational incidents. Several of these were Halloween related, including 23 involving bonfires.

"Sadly, fireworks were intentionally directed at Fire Crews who attended 6 separate incidents across Kilkeel, Drumquin and Enniskillen. We cannot emphasise enough how dangerous fireworks are, as they can result in life changing injuries if used inappropriately. We acknowledge these incidents were isolated to a small minority of individuals, but this antisocial behaviour could have had devastating consequences.

"Fortunately, on this occasion no damage or injuries were sustained by Fire Crews, which enabled operational response to be maintained throughout the evening. We would like to thank the public for their support throughout the Halloween evening. NIFRS recommends the safest way to enjoy fireworks is by attending professionally organised public firework displays."
