North Belfast Troubled

North Belfast has been the scene of conflict over the past few days with the latest incident leaving two police officers injured.

The pair were responding to an emergency call involving a domestic incident in the Oldpark.

One had to be treated in hospital for facial injuries, while the other suffered bruising to his face and legs.

The incident happened in the early hours of this morning at Jamaica Way, off the main Oldpark Road, at about 12.30am.

One man was arrested at the scene.

Meanwhile, a number of families have been forced out of their homes in recent days by the behaviour of anti-social teenagers in another part of north Belfast.

Other residents in Queen Victoria Gardens, which is off the main Antrim Road, also say they want to leave as soon as possible.

They say there are fires at unoccupied houses and residents are verbally abused as they walk along their street.

It is claimed the troublemakers are not from the street, but come in from neighbouring areas.

The area is no stranger to trouble, and regularly features in the news with last year, a susspicious fire being set which brought fire crews to a property at Queen Victoria Gardens in Fortwilliam.

A woman was treated for smoke inhalation at the time.
