Body Found In Leytonstone

Inquiries are underway by detectives from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command after a body was found in Leytonstone.

At approximately 4.15am on Wednesday 19 January police attended a basement flat in Wallwood Road, east London.

The body of a man was found at the address, however his age has not yet been confirmed.

A post-mortem examination was held yesterday at East Ham mortuary.

The death is being treated as unexplained at this early stage.

On Wednesday evening a 26-year-old man was arrested in Devon in connection with the inquiry. He was detained by local officers on behalf of the Metropolitan Police, and was transferred to an east London police station.

Police Confirm Helicopter Crash In East Yorkshire
Humberside Police have reported that a helicopter has crashed into the sea off the coast of East Yorkshire. It is understood that a member of the public reported the crash at about 13:40 on Tuesday. The crashed helicopter was found near the lighthouse in Flamborough, police have confirmed. An investigation is underway into the crash.

Post-Mortem On UEA Lake Body 'Inconclusive'
Police in East Anglia have said that results from a post-mortem on the body of woman found floating in a university lake are "inconclusive". An angler reported the body on Thursday morning, and the police have been unable to identify the victim. All students, staff and visitors of the University of East Anglia (UEA) have been accounted for.

Body Found In Search For Missing Woman
A body has been discovered in Sutton Mill by police investigating the disappearance of Jennifer Hayman. The body was found at 18:00 on Thursday. Formal identification has not yet been made, but police said that Ms Hayman's family have been informed of the find. A post-mortem is due to be carried out to establish the cause of death.

Man Charged Over East London Murder
A 48-year-old man has been charged with the murder of woman in east London. Police say that the man has been charged with stabbing to death 26-year-old Leighann Duffy. Ms Duffy was found at a house in Hatherley Road in Walthamstow suffering stab wounds to her arm and neck. She died two days later in hospital.

Police Investigating If Woman Was Trying To Save Dog When She Was Hit By Train
British Transport Police investigating the death of a woman have said that she may have been trying to save a dog when she was hit by a train. The 22-year-old woman was struck by a train close to Ainsdale station near Southport, Merseyside at about 15:00 on Wednesday. Transport police said a dog was also found dead at the scene.
