Police Launch Baringside Murder Appeal

Detectives are appealing for information following the murder of a woman in the Barkingside area.

Police were called shortly before 16:00hrs on Tuesday 7 February following reports of a disturbance at a flat along the High Street, Barkingside.

Officers attended and discovered the body of a 17-year-old girl at the premises.

Police believe they know the identity of the girl and next of kin have been informed.

A post mortem examination held at Walthamstow Mortuary on Wednesday 8 February gave cause of death as compression of the neck.

An inquest will open and adjourn at Walthamstow Coroner's Court in due course.

An incident room has been set up under the command of Acting Detective Chief Inspector John Nicholson of the Metropolitan Police Service's Homicide and Serious Crime Command (HSCC) at Barking.

A 21-year old man has been arrested in connection with the inquiry and remains in custody at an east London police station.

It is understood that the girl was engaged in conversation by three teenagers before being lead to Hibbert Road, near Theydon Street, Walthamstow, described by police as "secluded". Detectives from Scotland Yard have appealed for information and witnesses to come forward after a murder in Waltham Forest. Police were called at around 12.50am on Sunday 11 April to a man suffering gunshot wounds in Seymour Road playing fields off Lea Bridge Road.

New info packs set to end 'shambolic' house-selling process
