Queen holds second Golden Jubilee bash

The Queen has marked the fiftieth anniversary of her coronation with a service at Westminster Abbey, attended by invited guests and 1,000 members of the public.

Prince Charles' partner, Camilla Parker-Bowles, the Queen's children and grandchildren and former and current politicians were among the VIP guests.

Also 34 fifty-year-olds, born on the day of the coronation, joined the congregation.

Prayers were said for the Queen and the royal family and hymns sung by the Abbey's choir.

The congregation dedicated themselves to the monarch and the Queen once again dedicated herself to the service of nation.

Later today, amid tight security, the Queen will hold a tea party for 500 under privileged children before attending a dinner hosted by Prince Charles.

While the Queen ascended the throne upon the death of her father in February 1952, the coronation was delayed until the following year, providing the opportunity for a second, if more muted, Golden Jubilee celebration.
