British Police Ask For More Time On Scrubland McCann Search

British police have asked for more time to search the Praia da Luz scrubland where they are looking for missing Madeleine McCann.

Officers have planned to search a large area of unused land in Praia da Luz, which is only five minutes away the complex where the McCanns were staying.

They have asked Portuguese authorities for an extra week to continue the search.

They put up tents at several locations, including the hole concealed by corrugated iron which was exposed on Tuesday after trees were cut down.

They also have been using the ground-penetrating radar to find what lies beneath the surface and searched drains close to the resort.

The renewed search for the missing girl is a joint effort between the British and Portuguese police.
