Double murder accused dies in prison

A man who was charged with murdering his wife and her sister at a barbecue in Henley has been found dead in his prison cell.

Stuart Horgan was found by staff at HMP Woodhill, Buckinghamshire, this morning. He had slashed his throat and body with a razor blade. An investigation now will take place into the death. It is understood that Mr Horgan had not been placed on suicide watch.

The 39-year-old, from Plaistow, London, appeared at Oxford Crown Court on June 17 charged with the murderers of his estranged wife, Vicky Horgan, 27, and her 25-year-old sister, Emma Walton. He also faced a charge of attempting to murder the victims' mother, Jacqueline Walton, who remains critically ill in hospital.

All three women suffered gunshot wounds during a family barbecue at Highmoor Cross, near Henley, on June 6.
