Ex-wife questioned over missing Briton
The former wife of a missing British bar owner in Thailand has been arrested in connection with his murder.
Forty-one-year-old Toby Charnaud, who owned a Western-style bar called Rainbow in the Hua Hin resort, disappeared in March.
Police conducted a search of his ex-wife Panada’s property during the investigation into Mr Charnaud’s disappearance and discovered “burned remains and ashes” on the property. Panada was then arrested, along with two of her relatives.
No charges have yet been brought against the trio. The remains are being DNA tested.
Mr Charnaud, who was born in Cornwall, but lived in Thailand for several years, has a five-year-old son with Panada, although the couple are now separated. Mr Charnaud went to live with another Thai woman following the separation.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Office confirmed that they had contacted Mr Charnaud’s next of kin in the UK.
