Pair quizzed over family deaths

Police are continuing to question a man and a woman in connection with the murder of a woman and her three children.

Uzma Rahan, 32, and her children - Adam, 11, Abbas, eight, and six-year-old Henna - were found dead at their home in Cheadle Hulme, Greater Manchester, on Sunday.

Post-mortems revealed that all four died from serious head injuries.

Rahan Arshad, Mrs Rahan's husband and the children's father, is still missing. His BMW 320 car was discovered at Heathrow airport on Monday.

Police believe that Mr Arshad left the UK on July 29. It is believed that the British-born taxi driver may have gone to Pakistan, where his family originally comes from.

The 35-year-old woman from Burnage was arrested on Wednesday morning, while the 40-year-old man, also from Burnage, was arrested later the same day.

The pair are believed to be a married couple. A house in Burnage was also sealed off on Wednesday in connection with the investigation.

Officers have appealed to anyone who saw anything suspicious at the house, or who has further information on the whereabouts of Mr Arshad, to contact them on: 0161 856 7834 or Crimestoppers anonymously on: 0800 555 111.
