Teen in court over stabbing death

A 17-year-old has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman stabbed to death on a south London street.

The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of murdering Carmelita Tulloch, 51.

Mrs Tulloch, who has two daughters and a granddaughter, was attacked as she walked to work around 9am on Tuesday morning.

She was attacked in Wickham Street, Vauxhall, south London, just five minutes walk from her home. It is believed that she died from a stab wound to the neck.

The 17-year-old appeared before Lambeth Youth Court, sitting at Balham Juvenile Court, south London.

The case has been adjourned until October 6.

A nightclub doorman due to stand trial for the murder of French student Amelie Delgrange has been charged with a second murder. Levi Bellfield, 37, from West Drayton, west London, will appear before Bow Street Magistrates on Friday charged with the murder of 19-year-old student Marsha McDonnell.

Teenager arrested over street stabbing
Police investigating the fatal stabbing of a woman in a street in south London have arrested a 17-year-old youth, it has been reported. Carmelita Tulloch, 51, was stabbed to death, in what was described by police as a "frenzied" attack, on Tuesday morning as she walked to work in Vauxhall, south London.
